Prayers from the recycle bin

One of the challenges of experiential prayer is that it requires equipment. Purchasing new items can be expensive and feel wasteful.

The recycle bin becomes a treasure trove source of possibilities to reuse and repurpose. The ideas for prayer are limited only by the imagination. Having an eye to repurposing anything into experiential prayer means gathering, cleaning, sorting, storing and dreaming.

I’ve listed a few items I’ve found useful, but repurposing any item that inspires an action can be used for experiential prayer. There’s something rather wonderful about taking something broken or used and turning it into a useful prayer tool. After all, second chances and an opportunity to turn ourselves around is what God offers to us all the time.

So turn to God! Give up your sins, and you will be forgiven

Acts 3:19 CEV

In the section below the paywall I’ve made a list of prayer ideas I’ve used in the past. I’ve also included a couple of my favourite prayers from the recycle bin.

I’d love to hear your ideas and successes on using recycled items.

On the journey
