It's the little things... lunch
I know I’ve been talking about the weather a lot lately, but and yet again, my weekend revolved around the weather. In fact, I was enjoying the sunshine so much that I forgot all about sending out our Virtual Prayer Room. So here it is - better late than never with my apologies.
Autumn might have officially started here on 1 March, but over the last three days it actually feels like summer might have finally begun! I had Friday off work to celebrate a big birthday for Andrew. For lunch we went to a cafe along the beachfront at Orewa Beach. It seemed like most of Auckland had the day off work to celebrate what has been a rare sunshine day this last summer. The bars and eateries were full, the outdoor tables packed, and there was a buzz in the air. On Friday night I cooked a special birthday dinner and we ate outside under an umbrella on our back courtyard. Usually in summer we eat outside every night, but it hasn’t really happened in 2023. I love eating outside. I’ve always thought food tastes better outside. It turns out this is true. It’s all to do with our senses and how the fresh air improves our sense of smell and taste.
