Advent Anticipation

We are in a season of waiting

Advent is underway and we’re on the journey to Christmas.

Anticipation is building.

We’re getting ready.

Today’s prayers are both getting ready and anticipation prayers.

Our first prayer today is about hiding the mess

This time of year is always messy in our household. There are Christmas projects on the go in the living room, dining room, kitchen and on our computers. We have boxes for the courier with gifts in them yet to be sent. We have boxes from the courier with gifts in them yet to be wrapped. We have decorations to put up, but have to shift furniture to fit a tree into place. The mess is part of Advent.

Our second prayer today is about decorating a Christmas tree

The Christmas tree is an almost universal decoration for Christmas. They come in many different varieties and are adorned with endless possibilities. The process of placing decorations on the tree provides prayerful opportunity. If you’ve already decorated your tree or your tradition is to wait until closer to Christmas to decorate a tree, consider getting a small ‘prayer tree’ for yourself to add your prayers to over the next few weeks.
